New Lord Lieutenant Cadet for Hertfordshire

Each year cadets are appointed from the three cadet services in order to assist the Lord Lieutenant at a variety of functions held throughout the county.

The 2017 Lord Lieutenant Air Cadet representative is Cadet Flight Sergeant Erin Ferguson from 1113 (Berkhampsted) Squadron.

Her Commaning Officers citation reads; Flight Sergeant Erin FERGUSON is the senior female Cadet at 1113 (Berkhamsted) Sqn. In a comparatively short time with the ATC of just under 4 years, she has undertaken a wide variety of Cadet activities and demonstrates an extremely mature approach to every new activity that she has undertaken.

Her achievements include that of Master Cadet exam classification, Bronze and Silver DofE Awards, basic and intermediate swimming, and marksman awards at Squadron, Wing, and Region level. In addition, she has attended a UK Camp during every year of her service – this year attending two camps, one of which at RAF High Wycombe was as a senior Cadet, helping to mentor young Cadets on their first camp.

Her appetite to continually take advantage of opportunities is as strong as ever and she has this year attended and qualified on the Method of Instruction and Activities First Aid courses. Her appearance and bearing are always of the highest standard and she takes responsibility for ensuring that the uniform of all female Cadets in the Sqn is of equal standard. Her attitude and commitment to Squadron activities is second to none and she regularly attends weekend community activities despite holding down a part time job.

FS Ferguson is a popular Sqn NCO. She is highly organised and displays a common sense leadership style to great effect, often with humour, as recently displayed when she organised and led the decoration of the Sqn HQ for a Halloween night, including organising and delivering food and drink. FS Ferguson was presented with the Adjutants Award at the Oct 2016 Sqn annual awards and 75th anniversary dinner at RAF Halton yet still found time to help fundraising for the Sqn by helping with the raffle and prize draw on the evening.
